Between 2013 and 2019, I made six alphabet books that used 118 different alphabet words, so 118 different images. Some were used just once and some many times; sometimes the same word, say dog or astronaut, would describe different images.

The drawings in this section were started in Marrakech and finished in New York. The intention was to use as many of the 118 words/images as possible. I think that of the original 118 words I have used over half. It is impossible to be precise as words, image and meaning always overlap. I am trying to make sense of something that is essentially without sense. I was also trying to use as many of the words as possible, without adding too many, which did unfortunately happen. The project gets more complicated not less.
