(Paul Weller has always sat in the background.) One of my jobs as an artist is to make sense of the world by organizing and structuring the images that I collect. This book, the so-called world or alphabet book, is one way of doing that. There are of course many other organizational devices (and many other images that I could have chosen), but the structure of the alphabet, as essential and basic as language, grounds the project in the world of libraries and encyclopedias.
