During a month in Rome, I visited and documented as many churches as possible. The original list had 101 entries, I visited about 75 and the final cut for this book was 61 churches. I wanted to get around the city and see as much as possible, without being exhaustive or scientific. This is an impression of some of the churches, basilicas and chapels in Rome, a poetic consideration of these buildings in this city at a certain time.

61 is a prime number: I like prime numbers as they are subtly disconcerting.
