Phadung Krung Kasem Canal
printed book, edition of 10, 32 pages, 4.5” x 11”, 2024
The Phadung Krung Kasem Canal was dug in 1852; it was 5.5 kilometers long and connected to the Chao Phraya River in two places in a loop. It was used to transport rice, bricks, fruit, jars and ice. With the subsequent addition of watergates, trade no longer became possible.
In 2024, I photographed the canal 32 times, as often as I could remember, from the same spot on the Phitthaya Sathian Bridge that connects Bang Rak with Talat Noi.
